Jessie Cohen
Now based in London, Jessie began her career as a Gender and Arts correspondent for the Mail & Guardian in Johannesburg. She later worked as Head Writer at David Krut Projects and from 2016 to 2024, she was the Director of Communications at Goodman Gallery, working initially in Johannesburg and, since 2018, from London. She played an integral role in the Goodman Gallery launching its London space and has overseen communications campaigns for William Kentridge, Alfredo Jaar, Sue Williamson, Mikhael Subotzky, Kudzanai Chiurai, Grada Kilomba, Misheck Masamvu and Shirin Neshat.
Anthea Kemp
Based between South Africa’s Garden Route region and Johannesburg, Anthea shares Jessie’s background in arts journalism, having worked as a weekly correspondent for the Mail & Guardian for many years. Subsequently moving into curating, she has led arts organisations in Norway and South Africa, and has curated projects for spaces including Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Tallinn Art Hall (Tallinn), The Italian Academy at Columbia University (New York), and the Iziko South African National Gallery (Cape Town). She was part of the founding team of Latitudes Art Fair (now RMB Latitudes) and in 2020 founded FORMS Gallery (2020-2023), an online-first platform representing artists from Southern Africa. She holds a PhD in Art History.
